Arjeplog Arctic Driving School
Driver training at the Arctic Circle
Here in Arjeplog at the Arctic Circle, world famous automobile manufacturers test their latest models for suitability in winter conditions. And here you and your customers or employees can take part in a professional winter test drive. Arjeplog is the automobile testers "mecca" and numerous testing tracks are created every winter on the ice of the vast lakes. We have reserved a complete testing area for you here. After breakfast, your vehicles will be awaiting you at the hotel. An instructor will take 3 participants per vehicle so that you are guaranteed an intensive and professional instruction.
The group will drive from the hotel down to the Hornavan Lake and to the testing area reserved for you there. The testing area consists of a circular track (diameter 300 m), a 1,000 m long straight track with partially polished ice and an approximately 1,500 m long handling track. The participants will have a "hands on" experience for every conceivable traffic situation on these three tracks. The driver training will continue in the afternoon and finally, the Arctic Circle Rallye will take place on our handling track. Each participant then has the opportunity to show what they have learned in training. Each participant will also receive a diploma and the Arctic Circle Trophy will be awarded to the winner of the Rallye.
As a supplement to the program, there is also a fabulous scooter safari. From Arjeplog, for example, you can travel to Båtsuoj. The way leads through coniferous woodlands and over frozen lakes. Following an approximately one hour tour, you will reach the small town of Mellanström and a small snack and warm beverages will be awaiting you and your guests here. Then from Mellanström, the group will return to Båtsuoj, a center of the Sami culture, the indigenous people of Lapland.
In Båtsuoj, you will be greeted by the Sami tour guide, Ms. Lotta Svensson. Here you will get acquainted with the Sami culture. Lotta will explain how the lives of the Sami has been dominated by reindeer husbandry and how even today reindeer are kept and bred. She will explain the traditions and the customs of the Sami and about their beliefs in shamanism. After a hearty meal of reindeer stew cooked over an open wood fire, you will take the scooters back to Arjeplog.
